Competition trials of different wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum L.) were started for yield potencial and resistance to lay, to stem rust and to leaf rust, and for a wide adaptation in two regions of the State of São Paulo without irrigation. The cultivars BH-1146, IAC-5 (maringá), tobari-F-66, LA-1434 and super X showed superior performance in the Paranapanema Valley; the cultivars IAC-5 (maringá) did so in the south of the State of São Paulo.
