This paper reports and discusses the first results obtained in a field trial set up in the Centro Experimental de Campinas, SP, to determine the effects of sprinkler irrigation and fertilization on cassava (Manihot esculenta, Crantz). The statistical analysis of the data showed not significant increase in cassava production due to irrigation or to fertilization. The use of fertilizer contributed to a small decrease in the root production.
