Distance problem-posing education to insert contemporary themes for teacher training: an introduction to Chaos Theory

In this article, we describe a case study accomplished by elaborating and applying a minicourse in distance education mode about Chaos in Dynamic Systems for teacher training, based on the problem-posing education, of Paulo Freire. The mini-course elaboration process was inspired by the thematic investigation concept, of Freire, the execution method was based on three pedagogical ideas, by Delizoicov and Angotti. We employed the Moodle virtual environment as technological means for distance education. We concluded that inserting contemporary topics into teacher training by means of technology could and must have problem-posing characteristics. For this, it depends on the collaboration between specialists from pedagogy and the specific area when choosing scientific contents and didactic methodologies, as well as on the teachers or future teachers' participation in adapting and co-authoring the didactic material and on having a virtual environment for enabling the interaction between participants and for adjusting the learning.
