Batom, pó de arroz e microchips - o falso paradoxo entre as dimensões masculina e feminina nas organizações e a gestão de pessoas

In this paper we identify and analyse the false paradox between the male and female dimensions in oganizations. According to the gender analysis paradigm in organizational studies, we show that the formal burocratic estructure is often the expression of a instrumental rationality based on male values, in which the female dimension is associated to patterns of behaviour seen as irational and incompatible. We present a case study in a high tech company to ilustrate the battle between the formal burocratic structure, the taylorist organization and the informal organization. We show that, in reality, the tolerance to behaviour seen as irational and the creation of "identity expression zones" are necessary to the functioning of a rigid work structure. We conclude arguing that a dinamic equilibrium between the male and female dimensions in organizations must be consequence of diversity management policies, that may contribute to the creation of an environment where individuals can develop their potential in the process of achievement of colective goals.
