Política de educação continuada corporativa: capacitação gerencial em empresa pública

The reader will find here a report on the results of a research conducted by authors with the purpose of identifying and analyzing the policies and strategies pursued by a Santa Catarina State corporation to develop the managers of its regional agencies during the period of 1997 through 2001. Needed theoretical references and pertaining empirical information were obtained, respectively, from selective literature, corporate budget documents, top management decision-makings and interviews and from questionnaires answered by managers. Research findings allow researchers to contend that this public company is able to formulate its policies of corporate continuing education based on: (1) the results expected to be achieved by the company in the specific fields of result specified in its strategic planning; (2) the transitive strategies leading from the technobureaucratic model to the participative model of management by results, by using strategies of dynamic conservatism; and (3) the knowledge a manager must command as to how well he or she is supposed to perform in each event associated with the desired model of management.
