This paper presents a current view about the psychiatric reform development in Brazil, from the perspective of a Therapeutic Residential Service residents walking, at Viamão, a city at the Porto Alegre metropolis. It was reported residents insertion process, incursions, findings of a new world and new ways to occupy it, after many years institucionalized in psichiatric hospital. The Therapeutic Assistance experience was contextualized by the mental desease deinstitucionalization process, supported by Gabriel Tarde concepts, french sociologist from the XIX century, emphasizing the social changes.
