SELECTION OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPLIERS: A STUDY ON EVALUATION PROCEDURES AND SELECTION CRITERIA

ABSTRACT

In the selection process of suppliers of services, the evaluation of potential candidates constitutes an important task, because when the evaluation is inadequately performed, the results are not good and it can be incurred incompatible costs. Theoretically, a good evaluation can be a warranty that the recruiting will be successful. This research verified if the companies adopt differentiated procedures when they select suppliers of services of Information Technology (IT). It tried to identify the evaluation procedures and the selection criteria used for the choice of companies that supply IT services. The results showed that, in function of peculiarities of IT activities, the selection process of suppliers incorporate specific characteristics, without however, to present the sophistication initially expected.
