Summary

Marking the gap between modem social demands and educational technology on one side, and our present educational evaluation practices on the other side, the author advocates modernization of achievement test. In order to underline the urgency of such revision, validity and reliability deficiencies of traditional exams are pointed out. Supported by research, the author further discusses the impact of school marks on student´s self-esteem.
