Abstract:

The present work will seek to account for the characteristics, political identities and claims of the student body of the Universidad Obrera Nacional (UON) in the founding period of this house of studies, which extends from its opening in March 1953 until the sanction of the law 14.885 (1959), regulations by which the denomination ‘Universidad Tecnológica Nacional’ (UTN) is made official and its inclusion within the university autarchy regime. Unlike the previous studies carried out on the UON and its student movement, this article seeks to systematize a comprehensive view, including various sources from the regional faculties that were part of the UON during its founding period (1953-1959).
