THE INFLUENCE OF ECONOMIC FREEDOM ON THE CONNECTION BETWEEN INNOVATION, CORRUPTION AND PERCEPTION OF HAPPINESS

Corruption impacts economies, affecting social progress and economic growth. Its incidence varies between countries, being more common in developing nations, which can affect innovation rates. The relationship between happiness, innovation and corruption, influenced by economic freedom, is an interconnected topic of study. In this study, a quantitative research methodology of a descriptive nature was adopted, in which data were obtained through the collection of information contained in reports and data sets related to the indices examined. The scope of the research covers the analysis of global relevance indices, involving a sample of 119 countries, with the purpose of contributing to the advancement of knowledge in areas related to these indices. It was evident that countries with high economic freedom and low levels of corruption have a high level of happiness and innovation. Furthermore, in repressed environments there is a low level of happiness and countries with economic freedom have high happiness. It was also shown that corruption generates happiness in repressed environments and reduces the perception of happiness in free environments. Similarly, happiness increases as the index of economic freedom increases. Thus, promoting happiness, innovation and combating corruption are interconnected objectives that require strategic analysis.
