The bibliographic citations of the articles published in Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem during the last 12 years were analyzed quantitatively and in terms of source of Knowledge with the objective to identify the literature used as background for the elaboration of the studies carried out by the authors involved. After a statistical and analytical survey of these references, an epistemologic analysis of the trends revealed by the bibliography was performed.
