Disreflexia autonômica: uma emergência ou não?

The present bibliographic study describes some problems of autonomic dysreflexia (AD). This syndrome happens in 85% of patients with medullar injury at or above the sixth thoracic vertebra and denotes an abnormal reflex activity of the autonomic nervous system. This irregular condition, which is provoked by responses to stimuli that are normal and harmless in healthy persons, has a highly unpredictable and unexpected occurrence, carrying a life hazard for the patient. The unleashing stimuli, as well as the means to prevent it, along with the. nursing assistance in the imminent crisis, are also described.
