The invisibilized legacy of Gilda de Mello e Souza’s thought

ABSTRACT

This paper seeks to understand the displaced presence of the essayist, art critic and professor Gilda de Mello e Souza in the field of aesthetics in Brazil. It is an initial analysis of the elements that framed the reception of her production, in order to outline the process of invisibility that has affected her in the last decades. Finally, it points to the concept of “poor aesthetics” coined by the author as a research path for the study of her contribution to Brazilian thought.
