Breending experiments with snails of the genus Biomphalaria from several beeding sites in Pernambuco, Brazil, using albinism as the genetics tag have shown that two isolated non-interbreeding populations occur in the region. One of the populations is made up of snails which consistently reached diameter sizes around 30 mm, while the other of snails reaching only around 10 mm shell diameter, even when in the best environmental conditions.
