Solid urban waste was evaluated in a greenhouse experiment through the evaluation of pH, P, temperature, CO2 evolution, organic matter and N content for 52 days. The organic matter was placed in plastic baskets (1 m diameter per 1,5 m height), revolved and moistend weekly. At the end of the period, CO2 evolution, temperature, organic matter and C/N relation had decreased, while pH and total N and P attained the highest values. The data suggested that the evalution period was sufficient to achieve maturation of the organic compost.
