Quilombola community: analysis of the persistent problem in health attention under the focus of the Intervention Bioethics

The Kalunga Quilombola community, composed of an Afro-Brazilian ethnic group, lives in the Brazilian region called Cerrado, in the northeast area of the Sate of Goiás. The current study deals with the social-epidemiological profile in rural environment, in which the living conditions that affects Quilombola people are considered under the perspective of the Intervention Bioethics. A semi-structured questionnaire was applied containing the variables related to the participants' identification concerning health, socio-economical and ethnic-cultural scenarios. The results show the persistency of fragilities related to social and health issues, as well as to difficulties to promote including processes towards universality and equity in health as for that community.
