Estimation of soil loss for rainfall erosion in the catchment area of Jauru, Mato Grosso state, Brazil

The increase of land occupation in southwestern of Mato Grosso State, Brazil, have promoted the deforestation of bigger part of natural vegetation area for beef cattle production, without suitable soil management, giving to area of high environmental fragility and huffiness to rainfall erosion. For estimates of soil loss, in rural catchment area of Jauru River, was used the Universal Soil Loss Equation driven by geo technology. The average of soil loss was of 3.26 ton ha-1 year-1, corresponding since zero at moderate scale of loss soil. The average of erodibility since 1994 at 2003 period was to 683.93 Mj mm ha-1h-1 year-1; 81.75% of surface of rural catchment area of Jauru River was recovered by soil with high erodibility (Typic Quartzipsamment, Leptosols, Ultisol). The slope factor (LS) medium in rural catchment area of Jauru River was of 2.05. The analyses of occurrence of principal vegetable coverage and the soil use indicated that 28.32% of catchment area was to cattle production farm, with of pasture land predominance. The estimative generated by Universal Soil Loss Equation must be considered as comparative to distribution of rainfall erosion in one hydrographic basin and to aux the decision makers about suitable use and management soil.
