The study aimed to evidence the incorporation of the Foucaultian framework in the scientific production of the Graduate Program in Nursing of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. It is a qualitative study using documentary research. The research source was the program's database of Theses and Dissertations. We identified 13 studies that used Michel Foucault. The analysis of the studies was made in two stages: classifying the works in relation to the objects of inquiry, and organizing the material from the data in the studies, giving place to the categories: Why Michel Foucault?; The question of power in nursing studies, and Archeology and genealogy in foucaultian studies. This referential view points a new to look towards diverse fields of research in nursing.
