Tiaminoterapia intra-raqueana nas síndromes neuranêmicas

The authors present the case history of 2 patients with hyperchromic anemia with achlorhydria and dorsal and lateral funiculi syndrome. The isolated anti-anemic therapy was inefficient in contrast to the intrathecal thiaminotherapy which gave very good results. They conclude: 1 — The isolated anti-anemic therapy is inefficient in the treatment of the neuroanemic syndrome. 2 — The intrathecal administration of thiamin improves the neurological disturbances of the polyneuritic series as well as the ones due to involvement of the long tracts of the spinal cord. The degree of improvement depends on the intensity and reversibility of the lesions. 3 — The intrathecal administration of thiamin is well tolerated, although it produces signs of meningeal irritation similar to those found with the introduction of a foreign substance in the subarachnoid space.
