Depth of planting for euterpe edulis mart

SUMMARY
This study was undertaken to determine the effects of depth of planting on the germination speed, completeness and development of Euterpe edulis seedlings.
The experiment was conducted in nursery and depths from 0 to 10 cm below surface were compared.
From the statistical analysis of the data, the following conclusions were drawn:
a) The best results were obtained at the depth range of 2 5 cm.
b) Completeness and speed of germination were reduced at the higher planting depths. Seedlings planted 10 cm deep had delayed emergence, poor stands, and low development.
c) The germination of seedlings near the surface was impaired.
